Both amateur and professional eyes have given us all a new appreciation of the variety of life that exists right here in our (extensive) backyard. Species in categories of mammals like: mice, squirrels, rabbits, bats, carnivores (Coyote, fox, bobcat,
bear), hoofed mammals (antelope, deer), amphibians, reptiles, fishes, crustaceans, odonates (dragonflies and damselflies) and birds ) the list from one morning in early July 2016 included more than 50 species seen or heard). The list in the Southwestern Naturalist goes on for five pages.
Yes… in the morning, the turkeys will stroll right into the headquarters yard.
